Future

Second Prototype

PCB technology will aid in miniturization.

The next step for the Heat Elite is to build a new and improved prototype. Using a printed circuit board (PCB) and smaller lithium ion batteries, the external circuitry will be miniaturized to fit within the helmet padding without disrupting the integrity of the helmet. The texture and size of the ear bud will also be optimized by slightly altering the 3D printing fabrication process.

We will explore different methods for reducing motion artifacts in the measurement of heart rate, possibly by finding a more secure method of attaching the sensor. The new prototype will also be built into military and firefighting helmets ensure that the design is compatible.

Networking

A local fire department has expressed interest in our design. While they think the wireless aspect of our design maybe be difficult to implement in an urban setting like New York City, it may be useful to firefighters in rural and suburban settings. We hope to use this contact to find groups that will be interested in buying our product.

Market Expansion

We hope to adapt our device into a headband to suit the needs of other high performance athletes, such as runners, with an optional personal monitoring device for individual use. While all of this development is taking place, we will concurrently seek FDA approval and seek funds to further our ideas.
